Project Description

Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners is a 5G-enabled smart city living laboratory with a 1.5-mile autonomous vehicle test track and 25,000 square foot innovation center. It was designed as an economic development initiative for the City of Peachtree Corners, which is located 20 miles northeast of Atlanta and home to more than 45,000 residents. A wide variety of advanced mobility technologies will be tested at Curiosity Lab, including everything from Level 5 fully autonomous vehicles to tele-operated scooters and embedded solar panels in the roadway.
Converting an existing 2 lane road with 11’ wide lanes and a large median into a 4-lane road with 10.5’ wide lanes, the City of Peachtree Corners transformed a typical roadway within a 500-acre commercial office park into a testbed that is attracting global interest. In addition to the roadway, devices are also welcome to test on the enhanced sidewalks, right-of-way and in airspace below 400 feet. Human-operated vehicles drive on the inner lanes while advanced vehicle testing takes place on the outside loop.
