The organization of ASHE regions was changed from Regions 1 through 9 to geographically-named regions as follows:
- Northeast Region – Four directors
- Mid-Atlantic Region – Two directors
- Southeast Region – Two directors
- Great Lakes and North Central Region – One director
- South Central Region – Vacant
- Rocky Mountain Region – Phoenix Sonoran Section administered by Southeast Region
- North Central Region – Central Dakotah Section administered by Great Lakes Region
